Performing at TEU concert in Nashville

the commentary
Taylor not only attended but surprised the crowd tonight at the TEU concert by getting up on stage to sing “Shake It Off.”
This particular denim dress might look incredibly familiar as it’s a multiple. Taylor wore the blue version of this to the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. The boots are also a rewear, a pair she wore to the Chiefs vs Broncos game during the 2024-25 season (my personal favourite from her second season of looks). The last time Taylor wore this particular dress was in blue denim at the 2023 MTV VMAs. Her styling then was with a pair of teetering silver metallic heels by Aquazzura and piles of silver jewelry through both bracelet and necklace stacks. Here, the colour palette was a cohesive black and gold. Seen throughout both her jewelry choices, her bag for the evening (a repeat LV Trunk Bag), and the hardware on her Versace boots.
The most notable accessory departure from the VMAs was Taylor’s choice to belt the dress, bringing in a piece from NYC-based designer Deborah Drattell, a new-to-her brand. Of the “Alinda” design, Deborah told me she was “inspired to create a western buckle set that was modern and chic. It tells a unique story depending on how you wear it.” Fitting for a storyteller, indeed. The western vibes were very evident to my eye and I think the bold filligree probably inspired her jewelry decisions, wearing three different ancient coin pieces that all featured weighty gold chains in addition to their bold coin faces. While I don’t necessarily think the silhouette of the dress needed the cinching at the waist, I can see how the oversized belt was meant to give a “country” rock tilt to the outfit’s styling - a nod to Nashville, of course. Though I can’t help but wonder if, sans belt, the western style Louboutins she wore during the Chiefs vs Buccs game would have fared better here as a topical statement piece.
Most importantly, in watching back the videos, I couldn’t help but feel a little emotionally overwhelmed. As a fan since her eponymous days as a curly headed country singer, there’s something that hits me close to the heart that her first time back on stage wasn’t at an awards show or a sold out stadium. But rather performing in front of an intimate crowd of people in Nashville, just a girl in a dress and boots, playing an acoustic guitar to the songs she wrote about her life. Somehow it really truly was everything.
